Snorkeling + Hike

This tour is developed in a boat with capacity for 15 people, captain and guide, in the reef of Cahuita National Park which is the largest in Costa Rica. Snorkeling is practiced around 2 hours with the possibility of observing: 35 different species of corals, 123 species of tropical fish, 3 species of sharks, 6 species of moray eels, 3 species of sea urchins, 140 of mollusks, 44 of crustaceans, 128 of algae, sea turtles, sea cucumbers, sea sponges, lobsters, shrimp, among others.

The tour consists of a walk along the path of the National Park of approximately 7 km. The activity starts from our office (Cahuita Tours)
in the community of Cahuita, entering the national park by the sector
of Playa Blanca and taking the trail to Punta Cahuita, crossing through beautiful beaches where tourists can swim in the calm waters of the Caribbean Sea. cahuita observe various types of snakes (boas, bocaraca, velvets, oropel, micas, ranera etc.), sloths, white-faced monkeys, howlers, anteaters, armadillos, raccoons, blue morph butterflies, birds and many other things like: medicinal plants, orchids, trees, ferns, bromeliads, etc.

Reserva Indígena

Indigenous KEKOLDY. This tour visits the iguana breeding zoo of the KEKOLDY indigenous reservation, a place where an indigenous family is dedicated to the reproduction of the Green Iguana, a species that was in danger of extinction and thanks to initiatives such as these has been recovering. Then, in the Bri Bri indigenous reserve, an indigenous family is visited, where a tour of a medicinal plant garden is made, followed by a demonstration of chocolate production. The cocoa within the Bribri culture is very important since they use it as purification, food and medicine and then will make a brief tour to see the medicinal plants, obtaining fiber and the weaving process. In the last stage of the tour you will visit a waterfall where you will be able to take a bath and a small snack based on fruits. Finish the tour
in a typical restaurant of the area where lunch is taken and then take the tourist to their respective hotels.

Bri Bri Reserve

Horseback Riding

This tour takes place in the town of Cahuita with Mr. Joe the last authentic cowboy of the community, which is a local guide from the area, belonging to the latest generation of inhabitants who to move between the villages of Cahuita south did so on horseback through trails before there was the road that communicates us with Puerto Limon. The activity is done on tame and trained horses, which allows expert riders as well as beginners to practice the tour with great ease. The ride is a mixture of nature and culture that takes us during the trip to gallop around the streets of Cahuita through Playa Negra and Playa Grande to reach the mouth of the River Tuba Creek, where you also ride in a sector, having the opportunity to appreciate the flora and fauna common to the rainforest.

Rafting

If you dream of rafting on a wild tropical river, Pacuare is it! Rated as one of the best rivers in the world. You will experience the intimate nature of the rainforest through the river. Hot water, waterfalls, and lush jungle opulence with its brightly colored plants, animals and birds make this trip exquisite for the senses.

River One day trip

Birdwatchnig

This activity takes place in the community of Cahuita, the tour begins at 6 am with the pick up at the respective hotels, to be arriving in the community at 6:30 am. Birdwatching will begin around the Ciudad Perdida Ecolodge hotel, which is a perfect spot to see, because it is a semi-open forest and because of its proximity to Cahuita National Park. Some of the birds that are possible to observe in this place are: the widows, sergeants, cardinals, tangaras seven colors, aracaris, toucans pico iris, trogones violacios, trogones masena, hummingbird, yellow chest and squirrel cucus among others. 

After some time of bird watching, we will have a typical Costa Rican breakfast and then we will go to Cahuita National Park, where we will hike to the mouth of the Suarez River, observing birds around the trail. Among the species of birds that can be observed are: The tiger heron, blue heron, tricolor heron, barrata, plomizo, trunk climber, and matinés fishermen depending on what mother nature wants to teach us. Upon reaching the Suarez River, the National Park has a beautiful beach area where tourists can take a bath if they want. At the end of the activity the transport will be arriving at the entrance of the National Park to take the tourists to their respective hotels.
