Culture & Heritage
Two Cultures, One Paradise
Costa Rica's Caribbean coast is shaped by two rich cultural traditions that inspire everything we do.
Indigenous Roots
Bribri Indigenous
Heritage
The Bribri people have inhabited the Talamanca mountains and Caribbean lowlands for thousands of years. Their deep connection to the land, medicinal knowledge, and cacao traditions continue to thrive. Our name — Namuwoki — honors this living heritage.
We support local Bribri community programs and offer guests the opportunity to visit indigenous villages to learn about their traditions and way of life.

Caribbean Soul
Afro-Caribbean
Culture
The Caribbean coast pulses with the rhythms of calypso, reggae, and soca — a living legacy of Jamaican and Afro-Caribbean communities who settled here generations ago. This culture shapes the food, music, and spirit of Puerto Viejo.
From our Caribbean-inspired restaurant menu to the laid-back atmosphere that defines every moment at the lodge, the Afro-Caribbean influence is woven into our identity.
